On massive movements and changing the world.
My most important work until date
On massive movements and changing the world
Every day there are more content creators in the space.
Every day more people are coming up and trying to become one.
Some succeed to a certain level, they are able to make a living.
Some succeed more and even enjoy millionaire status.
Some create movements that change the world.
I’m focused on the latter.
The later have the highest influence and enjoy the deepest purpose in their lives.
They have a mission and are accomplishing it.
They are making their personal transformation a societal transformation.
They are making a transformation viral and by network effects, they are changing the world.
Thinking big
The purpose of life is finding the largest burden that you can bear and bearing it.
We usually think is dumb to aim high and dream big.
Even if you think you don’t, what are your goals as a content creator?
Not even your goals, what do your actions reflect?
Do you really see yourself as carrying the responsibility of all the people who are struggling with the same problems you overcame?
And the people with the same problems you still struggle with?
Is that the level of dedication a good father would have with his son? The working 3 jobs type of father? The father who works all day and still finds time to be with his child, with full presence?
You would think that this are unreasonable expectations for a content creator. But I believe this is one of the most important roles on society.
Content creators are the leaders of the masses, and which each subsequent generation they become even more so.
Will you half-ass such a responsibility?
As human beings we are made to carry on weight. To carry responsibility
This is what gives us meaning, fulfillment, and happiness in our days. It’s what get’s us up in the morning and what makes us feel satisfied when we are going to sleep.
I know, it’s not the most common of experiences, but we all have felt this some days, and we didn’t have to numb ourselves with distractions those days. We were whole.
World-changing leaders
In my current way of seeing it, there are 3 types of world-changing leaders:
Leaders of thought → advances in thinking, less connection with masses:
Newton
Einstein
Dan Koe
Robert Glover
Viktor Frankl
Seneca
Jung
Freud
Nietzsche
Nassim Taleb
Leaders of movements → divulgators not pioneers, more connection with masses:
Hamza
Javier Milei
John C Maxwell
Nelson Mandela
Gandhi
Elon Musk (pretty much only through example, which is a huge part of leadership)
Alok Kanojia (Dr. K from HealthyGamerGG)
Leaders of thought AND of movements → pioneers of thought and leaders of masses: The ultimate level of this is similar to Level 5 Leadership as defined by John C Maxwell
Jesus
Buddha
Socrates
Naval Ravikant
Tony Robbins
Jordan Peterson
David Goggins
Ego (from the manga Blue Lock)
Organizations:
United States
URSS
Religions
Another way of seeing it: Academy (thought) and Industry (movement).
When something great gets invented and when that invention is distributed to the masses.
What this enlightened beings like Jesus or Buddha did is to execute on both the invention and the distribution to the masses of that invention.
Not just the distribution of their ideas but leadership that get masses to fully take advantage of their inventions.
Anyways, this is a continuum, rather than black and white.
Aside from the willingness to do so (to see the importance in distributing the teachings to everyone, not just a select group of people) I think to transition into leader of movement the importance of simplicity and being able to teach from absolute beginner to master is the key differentiator.
Depth in simplicity is the ultimate demonstration of this skill (think Buddha and Jesus that were full of very simple and relatable analogies with very little need for explanation to achieve incredible depth.
They also had the depth, but it was still accessible to the masses thanks to the point before (like a funnel)
The longevity and spread of your movement
Extreme circumstances are required to find the highest truths: Buddha, Viktor Frankl, Jesus
You can repeat others’ wisdom and be a divulgator, but the more you experience those lessons, the deeper you go, and the more of a leader you become.
Because you lead by example.
That’s the Hero’s Journey.
One thing is being able to teach a privileged guy with Internet and parents that pay his bills to build an online business.
A whole different ball game is going as far on the lowest end possible on the economic scale and being able to teach that person to build an online business (or other type of business, who knows).
Is in that process where you find the highest truths.
Because they not only apply to a privileged position or a particular personality type, but they can apply to everyone.
You find the absolute principles of business, and in doing that you’ll way more likely to find the absolute principles of life. This is what Buddha and Jesus did.
Jesus hanged out with criminals and murderers.
He was able to teach and rise people on the lowest levels of ethics.
He was able to rise them from the bottom to the top, the whole “funnel”.
Practical applications
Both thought and movement leadership are composed of trainable skills:
Leadership of thought
To become a better leader of thought you need first-hand experiences and reflection: isolation.
You need isolation because you wouldn’t be able to be transformative.
By always being surrounded you would just be an amalgamation of what is around you.
These people were against the norm, they created something new.
Leadership of movement
To become a better leader of movement you need a lot of contact with a lot of people; you need to teach them from the bottom up to get second-hand experience: mentorship
It’s the simplicity what enables them to be widespread.
Leadership of thought AND movement
Both require communication.
It’s the depth and truthfulness of your ideas what make them the most massive and long-lasting; what makes them antifragile.
